Who is Mae

Hey, I have a question for you. An important one.

How are you?

I mean really, how are you mentally? How about emotionally? What about physically? How did you feel when you woke up this morning? What was the first thing you thought about? How did your day go after thought what you thought? Did you even get a good night of sleep? I am truly interested in your responses.

Take a moment and answer them. You can write them down or even leave me a comment.

I ask, because I understand all too well the struggle of sometimes just not being “okay”, mentally, emotionally, and yes, physically. Most times I faked it! Let me tell you, I get it.

Let’s get personal. Who is Mae? A person, like you. Someone who made a choice to take back my life, make intentional choices that benefit me completely. Mind. Body. And emotionally.

I learned to choose a healthier lifestyle using the resources around me. The same resources available to you. I learned to love myself through the foods I eat, how I eat, by the words I say to myself and out loud, how to express what I am feeling. Basically, I treat myself better.

What is the Trifecta of Living a Healthy Life

I learned to love myself again. I learned to enjoy life again. I learned what makes me…me. It was not possible for me to fix one area in my life without looking at all 3 areas of what makes me. My mental health. My emotional well-being. My body. The trifecta of living a healthy life.

I learned to take better care of myself. I had to look at these areas as a whole, as one, not separately. I learned something important about myself and how to work towards a healthier life. As cliche as it may sound, I learned to look on the bright side of things just by making the connections between my mental health, my emotional well-being and my body.

Let’s Get Real

I do not have a medical PhD. I’ve experienced life. As you may know, life can throw a few curve balls your way. The only difference between you and me at this point is, I figured out my mind, my emotions, and my body feed off each other. I decided to look take a closer look at my physical, my mental and how I expressed myself. This was not about anyone else. This was about me. My body and how I functioned as a person.

I felt like I was just going through the motions of life. Getting up going through the motions of my daily routine, of the daily hustle, only to struggle to go to sleep at night, and to wake and do the exact same thing over and over again. My mood was crappy 75% of the time. Depressed. Emotionally drained. My body was achy, out of shape, and tired. The food I was feeding myself did not benefit me as it should. Everything was just…blaaaaah. A cycle of unhealthy living.

I Mean It Makes Sense

Looking back, I did not understand the way I treated my body effects the way I choose to think about the day to day and my thoughts align with my emotions. What I think or how I think and how I look at my day to day, effects how I feel about myself and everything around me.

I would choose my mood, affecting the way I move throughout the day and how I express myself. At the time, the pain my body felt or what I fed myself was based on how I was feeling. These pieces can be moved around and you will find 1 always effects the other 2 aspects of what makes you and how you function in your life.

The Trifecta effect. A cycle of the most important parts of how you function every single day. Forget financially, forget romantically, forget everything else outside of your actual mind and body for a moment.

I am talking about YOU. Your Mental. Your emotional wellbeing or soul. Your physical body. All connected. Affecting you and blocking you from being your true authentic self.

The greatest part about it all, is you do not have to remain in this ugly vicious unhealthy cycle. You can change the cycle.

When I made the connections between my mental, my physical, and my emotional mindset, I took small steps to improve how I functioned. I did not throw myself into any type of intensive expensive therapy or any kind of mind blowing scientific experiments or take on any extreme dieting plans. I started by making improvements in all 3 areas at the same time.

Baby Steps People – Be Selfish

The actions are not monumental or magical in any way. Small simple tweaks in my day to day, truly making the biggest impact on my life. When I say, sometimes, it is the small things, it really is the small things.

I became selfish. What? Selfish? Yes. I began to understand the importance of pouring into myself for health benefits. Somewhere along the way, I began losing myself identity. Asking my myself, who am I? How do I feel about myself? Ask yourself these questions. Right now… seriously.

I started reading and listening to material to help me improve the way I thought about myself and how I expressed my emotions. I changed all these negative emotions and thoughts. There is a ton of material available to help you learn to overcome mental and emotional blocks. Literally a quick switch to thinking about something that made me happy or smile or gave me the warm and fuzzies.

What Are You Doing to Your Body

I began learning how to right. You are what you eat. If you eat crap, you’ll feel like crap. I learned the best exercises for me. Body building completions are not in my near future plans, promise. I simply do not want to catch a cramp walking up my stairs.

Here is an example of what I mean. Did you know there is a proper way to take vitamins, instead of just piling them all in your hand and slinging them all back at once like a tequila shot?

Well, there is a right way to take vitamins to help improve many bodily functions. If your body is not functioning the way it should, you feel like crap, your mood is affected. None of these changes will break the bank, they will however, break the cycle.

Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes

I want you to know you can start changing your life today. Literally as you are reading this passage. The fact you are reading this far, lets me know you crave something different.

Right now, think of something that makes you smile, something that brings you joy. A vacation, a baby’s laughter, a joke you heard. What is happening to you as you think about whatever it is?

You are already making a change. It all starts with you. You ever hear someone say, “nothing changes if nothing changes?” It is one of the truest statements in life.

You came looking for change. Something to help you live a healthier life. I want you to know it is in your reach.

I understand the feeling of not feeling OK more often than I would have ever admitted at certain points in my life. I have felt disconnected and lost. I decided enough was enough. I want you to say the same thing. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I want you to learn how to manage all 3 areas of your life to reap the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.
